Eeek... Aaargh... Eeek again!
I feel quite excited, terrified, excited... both!
Axel has been picked up this morning and he will join the Hanekom & Happenstance family very soon.
I am really excited for my pony to arrive, but nervous too. It has been a long time since I have had my own horse and what a wonderful first horse he was. I know I have taken a bit of a leap with buying Axel but something tells me it is the right choice. Of course, I don't have a way of seeing into the future, although that would be very handy if I did! But I am hoping that everything kind of clicks into place.
I hope the poor lad is feeling ok. I am thinking of him right now, how he must feel a bit odd with all this driving and these strange people. It's been an unsettling few months for him and of course, Sara, and the barn crew and myself, will be new 'people' too. I hope he will soon learn that he can relax and that he is safe and cared for at his new home. His journey began by being collected in one of the smaller trailers from his old barn. He then shipped over to Lexington, Kentucky where he was unloaded and rested for a while before being loaded onto one of their semi trucks where he has a nice big box stall to relax and travel in. I know that once he arrives he needs some time to get over the journey. There is a good article here https://horseandrider.com/gear/the-long-haul about it which helped me plan his next week or so. Gentle does it I think!
Well, I believe that my next post should be after he arrives, all being well...
SO EXCITED!!!
